When its meal time i give my daughter her plate and give her a baby spoon or baby fork to let her try and feed herself but she rather use her hands. i try to show her how to do it and i help her with it. but she dont want no part in it. I was just wondering how old was your child when he/she started using a fork or spoon ?

My first wanted a spoon as soon as she could hold one. Waved it around in the air, but never quite got in near her mouth with any food on it! The second realised if her hands got in the way, that slowed the arrival of the food down, and would sit on her hands to keep them out of the way, and refused to even try using a spoon. I can't remember when they successfully used a spoon and fork, as they are both teenagers now.

She will pick it up, and it's more important (I think) to teach her about family meal times, and make sure she always included in the family meals. She will start to copy the family, and will soon be able to eat using a spoon and fork.
