I have an 18 year old son, won't attend scool regularly. Won't get a job. Doesn't drive. Plays games online. At my wits end. I don't like the idea of kicking him out of the home.

Dove took my answer! :-)

Contracts work very well. My 19 yo and I had one when he was still at home, and it just helps outline the expectations on both sides.

You could also take things away. If he doesn't want to get a job or go to school, don't pay for his phone, his internet, new clothes, etc. He'll get tired of that real quick

Thanks, I have been enabling for too long. It won't change if I don't make it happen. The contract is a great idea.

Well, if you won't lay down the law or kick him out... how do you expect anything to change? Write up a contract of what you feel is acceptable for him to continue living at home (rent, chores, job, attending school regularly... whatever YOU feel is appropriate) and give him a move out date if he doesn't comply.... and stick w/ it. Or you can continue on as things are and just hope he will grow up on his own.
