My son is 18 months old, about a month ago while my mother was watching him she noticed that he would stop breathing during his sleep for 25-35 sec and on rare occasions 40-45sec. Since we first noticed it iv started having him sleep with me so i can try an catch him when he goes too long without breathing( im a very light sleeper i wake up if i hear the slightest noise) and he has ben to see a pediatric Pulmonology who has a sleep study schedualed for late june (the first avalable time).
im wondering if any other moms have gone thru this with there young kids? Can give me any suggestions for what to do before the sleep study to ready him? any suggestions for getting him to sleep? Give me any ideas what is gona be like for him and me?

thanks katherine.
my dad has had a sleep study done, but i wasnt sure if there was a difference with kids?

and about your 3yr old it couldnt hurt to ask her doctor. you never really kno unless you do.

im paranoid about certain things that run in my famliy or happen frequently in my family (which we have found in the past year or two, sleep apnea does). It seems like iv gotten every issue from both sides of my family and my mother rarely believed me if i talked about having pain, discomfort, or weakness of any sort. so i stopped telling her, usually it was my dad who noticed i was having issues and would know what it was even before i was seen by a doctor. because of how it made me feel as a child i make sure i pay attention to any signs from my son, and i always ask my doctor if i have a question about anything.

I've never been through a sleep study with my LO. But my ex had to go to one for his sleep apnea. They put you in a hospital room and hook you up to machines. They need to determine whether or not he would need a CPAP. If he is not breathing correctly then he will probably have to have one. It could also be small sinuses. My 3 year old does this sometimes and scares me to death. She sleeps with me.

I was wondering if I should bring it up to her doctor.......
