Hello,
My son is almost 32 months old and is not talking very well. He says all his abc's , numbers, shapes, animal sounds, apple, dog, ball, car and a few others. He only says mama when upset. He doesn't say yes or no and doesn't shake his head no. I really never wonder what he needs because he takes me to everything he wants. If he wants juice he drags me to the frig, or a snack the cabinet. If he wants something fixed or the channel changed he brings it to me. He understands what he is being told. If I tell him we are going bye bye he goes to door, or bath time goes to bathroom. He is your average 2yr old but he just doesn't seem to express his needs and wants with words. I have started the process of getting him into speech therapy but that's a waiting game. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

I tell him to use his words all day long. I probably give in to easily when I refuse to open the frig, I ask him to use his words but he just gets frustrated and I eventually give in.

Have you tried telling him to use his words?
When he brings you to the fridge, ask him to tell you what he wants. If he points to a drink say "oh you want milk" and have him try and say milk.
Maybe try telling him he can have what he is asking for if he uses his words and actually says what he wants?
