i went for my 20 week ultrasound and everything was great , we got to speak to the doctor after because i am high risk due to juvinelle diabetes. the doctor said the baby looked healthy, his kidneys, heart, brain and size were all good and he was developing great but he told us that my sons left pinky was bent , which has no signifiance to me at all until he said that it is sometimes a soft marker for down syndrome. my heart dropped when i got this news and i was so scared and didnt know what to do. i had the sequential screen done a few weeks prior and they said the babys chance of having down syndrome was 1:10000 ( which is awesome results) but with his pinky bent he said its about 1:5000 ( which is still awesome) i decided to get another blood test done to see if my son has down syndrome. the doctor said he doesnt think anything is wrong with him and actually bet me his car that the baby is fine but told me he has to tell me because they can be sued if god forbid something was wrong with the baby. im still waiting the results and am a huge mess, has anyone else dealt with this and what happened in your case?

Although I did not have the same marker, my first born had something called a "choroid plexus cyst" on his brain. They said it could go away or stay and he could be totally fine or it could be an indicator of Trisomy 18, which is fatal. How's that for odds? It was my first ultrasound, my first baby and I was a basket case! Guess what? It disappeared by the next ultrasound and he was born 2 weeks late and almost 10 pounds!
I completely understand how you're feeling. And it's impossible to not be worried or stressed. I get it. Trust that everything will happen the way it is meant to. It's not in your control, so if you are spiritual, trust that God has a plan and if not, know that you are only human and can only control so much. Try to get sleep, eat well and take care of your precious baby growing inside of you.

The bottom line is, no matter what the outcome, you will be so in love with your baby the second you lay eyes on him that nothing else will matter. Hugs!
