My 21 month old son is nonverbal and has not yet spoken any words. We have been working with an early intervention program for a year and while my son has made many improvements in other areas, such as motor skills and self feeding, he's still struggling with speech. Over the last few days, he's been extremely aggressive - throwing items around the house, slapping me, kicking me, hitting the cat.....I'm frustrated. I have a feeling that the speech delay and agression are related but I dont know what to do. E.I. appointments are only once a month and not available during the summer and I dont want to prolong correcting this problem. Any advice and tips you Moms out there can give me is greatly appreciated! I work full-time and my son is in Montessori care. I dont want his aggression to turn towards the other children and him get expelled.

My son is 11 years old now. He was diagnosed with Autism 2 years ago, the sooner you get help for him the better it is.

Have him screened for autism or Aspergers. My son is autistic and you just described him when he was a toddler. God bless you and your son.
