Nothing against being 53..

My name is Kelly and I am brand new to COM, I have a 2 year old toddler and a wonderful fiancé. Unfortunately, I feel something is missing.. 3-4 years ago I was so spunky, I loved being creative with what I wore, what I put on my walls, and music was a HUGE part of my life.. I wasn't popular but I felt like I knew what was going on with entertainment, now I'm lost. I don't dress like i used to, or even close to it, I dress exactly like my mom.. But worse.

My mom is the best, don't get me wrong, the way she dresses isn't too bad.. But I want my bubbly, spunky personality to show back up again.. I feel like I'm so out of the loop.

I've gained weight, I've lost my sex drive, I don't feel sexy (although my fiancé would disagree), all I feel like is JUST a mom..

Has anyone gone through this? Or going through this?? I feel as if I'm the only young mom that I know going through this.. I see tons of moms look like they feel great.. Wear whatever they want, seem confident, happy, etc..

Any advice??

It isn't uncommon to just be feeling a little depressed. It doesn't have to be a negative thing, it may be just that you've gotten yourself in a rut and not sure how to get out of it. It is hard to tell from this side of the computer. But talking to your doctor may help you to at least be aware of it if it is a slight depression. One thing you can do is try to make more time for yourself doing something you enjoy, and get plenty of sunshine and exercise. These things can really help. I know it can be tough with a little one, but see if you can work out a way to do it, as it makes you feel better naturally.

Didn't say there was anything wrong with being 53.. And I do know that even 70 year old women feel sexy, creative, spunky, etc., not knocking them down.. I could've worded my post differently.. But I didn't.

On the other note, thanks for the advice, I will seek medical attention. I hope I don't suffer from depression.

Hate to tell you, but at 53 you can feel spunky, sexy, creative and all those things too. So yeah, there probably was a different way to approach this post.

However, having said that, how long have you been feeling like this? Is it possibly you may have a little depression? Have you talked to your doctor about how you feel?
