I am a mother of two year old triplets. Carrying multiples is very different from carrying a singleton as you know. If you are concerned, call your practitioner. He/She can help you identify the pain and either put your mind at rest or have you come in to get checked out. Back pain is par for the course when carrying more than one baby though! Hope all is well!

Obviously your first step is to see your Obstetrician. If you are cleared from being in labor, my bet is that it is your pelvic bones starting to seperate a bit. I am a physical therapist who specializes in women's health, pre/post-natal. Your pelvic bones make a ring with 3 joints in that ring. 2 of the joints are in your back where your hips connect onto the bottom of your spine - called your SI joints (the one in your front is your pubic symphasis). All the joints will loosen up throughout your pregnancy in order to make room. And, the fact that you have 2 kiddos in there, your joints may move more than normal. It also depends on how the kiddies are sitting in your pelvis. If your pain continues, talk to your Ob about seeing a Physical Therapist who specializes in pre-post natal. There are easy exercises and also support belts that may help.

thank you guys! my pain goes away when i lay down and comes on when i walk. i am on bed rest because i went in this weekend to L&D and they said to go on bedrest just incase. i have never felt labor before so i have no idea if its that. I don't want to make a mistake on this.

are you feeling any tightening in the stomach at all? try drinking some water and putting your feet up. with my others i had back pain close to that from not drinking enough fluids. but if see any bloody discharge or tightening in the stomach i would go in to the dr.

Does the back pain come and go? Have you been put on bed rest? If it gets worse you may need to go in and have them stop your labor.
