2cm dilated and won't go anymore
MOST HELPFUL POSTS
Bless your heart, I sat at 2cm dilated for a MONTH.
If you can look around the internet, there are some exercises you can do to help the baby reposition and maybe get her off that nerve. My favorite was always the pelvic tilts. It seemed to turn him a bit and get him off of my bladder or back bone.
As far as making you go into labor... I had my membranes swept twice, the second one seemed to work. (I was in transitional labor an hour later) About half of the women who talk about membrane sweep say it didn't help them. It's all a toss up, and honestly, the baby isn't going to come until she's good and ready.
I suggest you do all the sleeping you CAN right now... don't rush for that baby to come just yet... you sleep, while you still CAN! GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This sounds crazy and ppl laugh when i tell them this but my dr told me i wasnt in labor cuz i was only dialated 1cm. I told her "yes i think i am." I went right after leaving the dr office, walked up three flights of stairs very quickly, hard to do with a big belly, went back to the dr office and said "check me again" while i waited for her to come in, with every move the baby made i pushed as if i was delivering for 10 seconds. She came in and within an hour of leaving the office and coming back i had dialated to 3 and was in active labor!!!!!!!

She will arive when she is good and ready> All I can tell you is that it is worth EVERY second of what you are going through right now.Good luck.

all of these options are great, but nothing worked for me. i was walking around for months dialated, and got very anxious towards the end. i tried membrane stripping, i tried nipple stimulation, tea everything, nothing worked. i was induced with my last 2. i just want you to realize that these things may work, but don't be surprised if they don't. if your child is anything like mine they'll want to stay in there comfy as can be for a long time.

I have had five babies and with everyone of them I was dilated to 2cm for two weeks before they finally came. My 3rd baby was 10lbs 7oz. He tried to come 3 weeks early but i stuck it out for another week, but he almost broke my ribs, he would push so hard, and the pain was so bad I almost would pass out!

I know this may be kind of out there, but I have heard of it working for MANY of my friends who have had babies recently, but...masturbate manually. Not just sex. You have similar contractions during both labor and masturbation, It can not be from a toy, or from sex, for some reason the hormones, and physical stimulation of self pleasure can get things going that far in pregnancy. My other suggestions would be to have your membrane swiped or to use an exercise ball. GOOD LUCK! --I have a 8 month old who was born after 25 minutes of labor, and I am due in July with another baby.

trying not to rush but i don't get much sleep as it is with a 4 year old. and only getting a hour to two hours of sleep the pasted two weeks. that every night i don't mind just getting 3 hours during the night to feed her. but i'll wait alittle longer.i don't want a c-section it kinda scares me

Just relax and take it one day at a time, Not everyone will dilate 10 cm and then you may have a c-section. When the doctor induce labor that starting the birthing procedures for you to have your baby and it not a guarantee you will fully dilate to have a natural birth. So enjoy your pregnancy until she comes. You wasn't rushing in the mist of it all.

I know how you feel. I was like that about two weeks before mine was due too. I tried it all and nothing worked. I ended up being induced a week after his due date. Just hang in there. I know those last couple weeks are hard, but you're baby will be here before you know it and you'll forget all about the uncomfortable last days of pregnancy. :)

I was due yesterday, I am 2 cm dialated...and 80% effaced...I feel like this kid is never gonna come. I have had my membrane swept twice...for me it did nothing...I have heard that raspberry tee helps and am starting to drink that today. My son is turning 4 in 1 month...so it sounds like we are in similiar boats. I don't have the sciatic nerve issue...but I have 2 things equally as bad...seperated symphisis pubis, and one hip that is out of allignment,,,,so the big suggestion of walking alot is very difficult for me,,,and I am sure very difficult for you. I am convinced my daughter isn't planning on coming out. Good luck! Oh yeah, and I have tried curry...gonna have to have me some sex! LOL...
Nipple Stimulation hasn't been mentioned yet....
Nipple stimulation for inducing labor naturally is also recommended. This is done to let the body produce oxytocin, a hormone that causes the contraction of the uterus. The procedure is to stimulate every 15 to 30 minutes for several hours.
Studies have shown a significant benefit from nipple stimulation in women whose cervix had already started to soften, thin and open ready for labour. 37% women who had tried it went into labour within 72 hours as compared to just 6% of those who had not.
However, it is only recommended for normal pregnancies, not for high-risk ones, since there aer no studies on effect in high risk pregnancies.

With one of my kids they were laying on my sciatic nerve, half the time I couldn't feel if I had a leg. That said.....Do you live near the country? This sounds almost bizarre but I drove an old pick up truck down back country roads for about a 10 miles stretch, went home ate what I was craving (ice-cream), hung out some laundry (it was summer), went indoors and took a nap. I woke up about an hour later my water had broken! I was surprised, everyone had said walk, sex, spicy foods and none of those worked. Good Luck!

Do all the walking you can to assist. Besides you'll need the workout too. But rest as much as you can. What lies ahead of you is a very big journey for both you and the little one, so enjoy this time you have and take as much advantage of it as possible. Treat yourself. Go out for dinner. When she is ready it will happen. Unfortunately the only thing that can bring her out now is an induction.

If you have an exercise ball get on that and roll back and forth to move the baby down more which will cause dilation if there is enough pressure. I was swept at 37 weeks and 38 weeks with my first and the first time i lost my plug within 5 minutes the 38 week one was just to see if i would go in labor on my own so i didn't need to be induced a few days later(i was in labor at 33 weeks with my first for 4 days and they kept stopping it and i had back labor the whole time so induction was booked). With my second i had a sweep again at 37 weeks and 38 and i lost my plug the first time within a few hours. I was induced with her at 39weeks. Sweeping does help some women but while i was in labor i got on the ball with both my kids around 5cm and within a few minutes i was 10. With both pregnancies i was 3cm from 33weeks-39weeks.
Good luck and congrats!!

I was 3 cm dilated and 38 weeks when I had my membranes stripped/swept and I was in labor that evening and had her early in the morning the next day. If you are that uncomfortable you should ask your OBGYN if they would sweep your membranes for you. Good luck!!!
