3 1/2 year old girl with Absence Epilepy

I just found out that my 3 1/2 year old little girl has epilepsy about a month ago. The neurologist gave me 3 pamphlets on Valproate Acid, Lamictal (Lamotrigine), and Keppra and told me to pick out what one I wanted to put her and he will call it into the pharmacist. So I finally decide to put her on Valproate Acid this week. Wondering if anybody else got a toddler on that and how they find it? She was also delayed in speech and wondering if this could be because of epilepsy? And wondering if epilepsy affects their behavior because she is constantly hitting her sisters and acting out. I always thought it was because she would get frustrated because she could not speak that well. But now her speech is coming along that we know what she wants or needs. Is her behavior going to become worst with the medicine?? Thanks.
