I am a 51 year old mom of 3 boys ages 18, 20,and 22/ My oldest graduated from college at 20 with his BA. out in the world being a successful business person. My middle child is away at college pursuing his degree and busy with college athletics and 2 jobs and a girlfriend and hour and a half away from home. My youngest just graduated high school but left 2 weeks later for his second phase of training in the National Guard and will be gone for 20 weeks then starting college. On top on all of that we have moved from their childhood home.I dont know what to think about the empty nest, To be honest I dont like it. I cry alot and miss my old home and my kids. I talk, text and see them all often but it is not the same. Everywhere there are memories and my husband doesnt understand. What a lifer of a mom to do?

thank you for the positive response and encouraging words. I love them and only want the best for them. It is so hard not to smother them with mom love whenever I am around them. But being boys it is not appreciated at times.

Let me first say Wow! Way to go Mama! What a wonderful Mom you must be to have raised such successful young men! I bet you're so proud of them and I hope you're proud of yourself too. I can only imagine what you must be feeling now that they're not around after all I am in the very early stages of Motherhood. I've watched as my own mother and mother-in-law struggled through these very early stages of an empty nest and its nothing short of difficult to say the least. But, what a great time to rediscover yourself and perhaps your partner too! I encourage them to get out there and try new things, travel, find a new hobby. After all for so long it was your kids that kept you busy, as I'm finding out now. I do hope you find happiness in this time of transition.
