Yeah, and I started my oldest on solids at 3.5 months. She is fine too, but now that I know better... I do better.

I did start trying my youngest at 5 months, but he wasn't ready for even a single bite until he was 6 months.... and not ready for more than once a day (at the most) until he was a year.

You asked for advice and we are giving it to you. Waiting until 6 months is (almost always) BEST for your baby. Take it or leave it.

I don't get why you would like to? Does she have any of the signs of readiness for solids?

6 months is the rule, just because your sisters kids are fit doesn't mean the dangers in early feeding don't exist. They could choke, it bloats their bellies and they don' get adequate nutrition from milk or formula. It can cause obesity and eating problems later in life. The list goes on. Babies shouldn't have solid meals until after a year old. Any food before that is just practice and should not replace feedings from bottle or breast.

Ditto Amy. She might end up being ready a little before 6 months (or later), but planning to wait until 6 months is a good rule to follow. She is definitely too young right now no matter what though.
