3 y/o with constant pain in left eye

My poor 3 year old has been complaining of eye problems for over a year now. I know, I sound like a horrible mom. I asked his doctor when he first started mentioning it, he noticed that he has extra veins between his eyes, so when he gets mad or excited, he basically gets a bruise between his eyes while he's still emotional. Then it goes away. He didn't really comment past that. I asked him again on the next visit, he set us up for a visit to the closest pediatric eye specialist between here and Houston (we live two hours away). We went to see him, he checked him out, looked in his eyes and said he had 20/20 vision. It's been a year now and he is starting to complain on a daily basis about pain, but just in his left eye. I don't know what to do. I feel horrible. He took a bad fall when he was a little over a year and landed on his face. It makes me afraid that there may be an underlying issue but it seems like you have to be referred to a specialist by your regular doctor and I'm not even sure who else he has to recommend. The next closest place I may go is Baylor College in Houston for the pediatric eye area but I just don't know. I have not yet made an optometrist appointment yet but maybe I should. It just seems weird that it;s only in his left eye. Any experience or suggestions with this?

Find a doctor who will listen to you, and don't stop until you do! Your poor baby is suffering and you are his only advocate. Unfortunately the squeaky wheel gets the grease where healthcare is concerned. I would just keep hounding those doctors daily until one of them is able to help. Best of luck to you!
