It is a time of adjustment for you both. Praise his good behavior when he does something right and implement some consequences for when he does not. He is old enough to understand that much. Also at his age he still does not have the vocabulary to tell you how this makes him feel. Also talk to his teachers at the day care and let them know that this is his first time in the care of others so they can work at helping him adjust.

I agree with Evelyn that this could be just an adjustment to a new situation - not uncommon at all! Has the teacher mentioned any specifics, like not following directions, or not sharing with other children? Maybe she can help you with some strategies you can use at home. Here's an article that talks a little about what you can do at home, too - some of the discussion of parenting styles may not apply in your situation, but there's some good stuff: http://bit.ly/1Y5sxzk Hang in there with your little guy, and all the best to you in your new job!

Part of the reason he may be acting out is because there is a new change in his life and that is you have gone back to work and he has a new caregiver.
