Hi. I'm a young single mother of a 3 year old boy who is very hyper and disobedient. I work full time as a nurse and I try to spend as much time with my son as possible but his behavior makes it hard. I know most toddlers, especially boys, are generally very active and enjoy running all over creation. That's not what bothers me. My son is very bossy, and not in the cute/funny way. He's very in your face and demanding and throws tantrums that are unreal. He also yells and says hurtful things. He tells me, and other adults to hush or shut up. He fights everything you tell/ask him to do. "No I won't" and will either just keep arguing or will completely ignore you. I'm really struggling with disciplining him. Timeouts don't work and spanking don't phase him. I beg him not to talk ugly to me or others and try to reason with him. I really want him to start school and make friends but I worry that we'll have a lot of problems with him being mean to teachers or other children. I'm hoping that I'm not the only parent experiencing this problem and that someone can help give me some advice to help me cause it is really stressful. Thanks!
