I have just noticed my 3 yr old son has started rolling his eyes back and to the sides. I can't tell if he's doing it on purpose or involuntarily. It seems to happen when he is getting in trouble, which is why I initially thought maybe he was just avoiding eye contact but I'm not so sure now. Today when he dd it he didn't seem to be aware of me talking to him and then he looked straight at me and seemed quite normal. He then told me his eyes hurt and about 3 minutes later fell asleep. He has been complaining on and off of sore eyes for about a week now, I had initially put it down to him getting over being sick recently (ear infection, cold and conjunctivitis rolled in to one) but again after today I'm wondering if it's something more serious? Am I just being paranoid? Sometimes particularly lately with a house full of sick people I've been feeling like a bit of an over sensitive mother.

Thank you both for your comments, I will take him and get him checked out, hopefully I am just being paranoid and it's nothing.

I agree with the first post, you'll feel much better once you talk to someone and figure out if it's serious enough to be checked by a doctor. It could be the residual effects from the conjunctivitis but you won't know for sure until you ask. Hope he feels better soon :)

If I were you I would take him to the doctor in the morning/make an appointment to be safe. Or at least call the 24 hr nurse line for advice if you really think something is wrong.
I am a very overly sensitive mother too and it annoys the crap out of my husband sometimes but it's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to your kids. And I'm sure you feel the same way too.
