There are so many variables here that make it difficult to give you any truly meaningful insight.

Is this your first baby? Do you have any other risk factors like gestational diabetes, obesity, or of the other myriad of things that could potentially be an issue?

Michelle is right - estimated fetal weights at this late stage of pregnancy are notoriously unreliable. He could be over 10lbs, or he could be under 8lbs. It's also entirely possible that you have a pelvis that could easily birth a baby over 9lbs - hundreds of woman do so every day without complication.

It's good that your cervix is already so favorable a week prior to your scheduled induction. There's always the possibility that you could spontaneously go into labor on your own before that time arrives.

None of us can tell you what you should do. Only you and your OB can make that decision together. As an L&D nurse, I would not chose to be induced for a suspected "big baby" prior to my due date unless there were other issues to consider, especially with my first. Being induced, in and of itself, does increase the risk of ending up with a section.

I wanted to add also in not advocating letting your baby come too late bc then then the risk of meconium is an issue and low fluid, but I'm just saying if the only reason they want to induce you early is bc of size then they are not very accurate

I was ten days late with my daughter and they tried inducing me at 38 weeks bc they told me my daughter was already nine lbs. I was against induction so I waited for her to come on her own and after being ten days late she was only 7 lbs 15oz , so how tiny would she have been if I let them induce me almost a month earlier? It's your decision , but as Michelle has stated they definitely are not always right when it comes to guessing the size of your baby

We really have no idea what will happen. Your baby could also be a lot smaller because most of the time they are way off with weights.
