I am 39 weeks pregnant! ! My doctor has scheduled to induce me on Sunday if baby hasn't come on his own! I really don't want to be induced! ! A friend gave me a recipe for a castor oil cocktail that she was given by her midwife, has anyone ever herd of this? ?

Yep with being 4 cm dilated they will probably break your water and let you do walking. As Michelle stated they will just Jumpstart that labor. Be up and walking for as long as you can. Let gravity help the cause :)

If he's ready to go then being induced will just give him the push along he may need. I was fully effaced and 3cm when I got induced. It took 20mins for the contractions to start and from the 1st contraction till he was born was only 50mins!!!!

Yeah, it was just scary. I guess every body's body is different though. some have good experiences and some don't. hopefully I can still have a natural birth though cuz I don't want a C Section! ! But I'm already almost 4 cm dilated. .. hopefully he comes on his own some time this week

I was induced three out of four births and I found it to be no more difficult than spontaneously going into labor.
Please do not take any home remedies! I worked in L&D and have personally seen the mess and misery that castor oil can create. Also the tea leaf capsule can contain caffeine and bump up your heart rate and BP.
You can choose to wait. If you don't want an induction, no one can force you. Your doctor can best describe the benefits vs risks of induction. Ultimately it is your choice.

My induction was the quickest, easiest birth of the two I had. With the eldest, I was 18 hours in labour, and nothing seemed to help.

With my youngest, induced at 8 am, walked for a couple of hours around the OB ward, and we had a baby by early afternoon. Actually for that one, the nurse came in to do a routine check, giggled, said "Don't move a muscle", ran out of the room hollering "If you want to deliver this baby, you'd better get over here NOW"...and 5 minutes of pushing was it.

Definitely would not go with ANY of the "home remedies". Most are more hazardous than helpful.

My induction was the best labor and birth I had. Don't be scared to be induced at all.
Don't take the castor oil, it's dangerous and will just give you the runs.

Been induced twice. Would much rather be induced by doc. then by something else. It is not as bad as what people say. Both of my inductions were done by breaking my water and then just waiting for labor to come. My first start to finish labor was 12 hours (which many first babies go much longer without induction. My next one I was induced with was 2 hours start to finish labor. I did not want to be induced with either and I too was trying to Jumpstart labor on it's own. Walking, sex, all natural safe ways I could do. But even though I was at 4 cm dilated nothing worked, until they broke my water. Then with my last one I was SO glad I was at the hospital when I went into labor. My labor went very well, but if I had gone on my own my daughter might not be here today. Because of medical care being right there I did not have any issues, but if I had labored on my own baby would have came too fast and with my health and her health at great risk.

I think I'll try the red raspberry leaf tea capsules instead. .. my cousin was induced and it was horrible

That can be very dangerous for both you and baby.....life threatening and more painful then an induction from your doc. I can understand not wanting to be induced, but why would you pick a self-induction that could be life threatening over a safe doctor induction that has medical staff there to make sure you and baby are safe throughout the induction. Castor oil is a laxative. In order to cause labor your body has to get dehydrated, which means spending your labor on the toilet and then putting baby and your body in so much stress you go into labor. Which then means you have put baby at risk because of the stress. A doctor induction will either give you medication that your body naturally makes when you go into labor or break your water to allow your body to naturally go into labor. These are natural ways that put less stress on you and baby. They will also have baby on a monitor to make sure baby is doing ok and not stressed. A much safer way.
