4 kids and going crazy!!!!

I have 3 of my kids and 1 step daughter. But they are all my kids. Of course my husband and I are having trouble with the two oldest. My 16 year old is totally maddening!! I hope I can make it through the high school years. I am glad to find a community of moms who may be going through the same things as me!

I have four as well, 19 (off at college), 16, 13 and 11. Currently my 16 yo is for sure the most challenging. She will be nice as pie to one person and a moment later roll her eyes at me, or respond with such sarcasm. It is making my crazy. I really don't tolerate much disrespect but I do realize that this is part of her navigating her way from mother/child to a more mature, peer like relationship. I remember my mother telling me (she had three girls in 5 years) that pulling away is necessary in order to return as a functioning adult. My son went through a similar phase and has come out the other side.

Parenting teens comes with some unique challenges. I had 3 teen boys in my home at the same time. Yikes! We made it through, the youngest is currently 18. There is one word I can say helped us through....relationship, relationship, relationship. Maintaining the relationship is key to communication and expectation. I know it can be really hard, but it is worth it when they come out on the other side saying, you were always there for me, even when I was my worst.
