4 month old and solid foods HELP

Hello everyone! My son is 4 months old and at the 98th percentile he is 19pounds 27inches long. Before I introduced solid food to him he was eating 4-5 7oz bottles a day so 28-35oz of formula a day. At 2 months he was diagnosed with acid reflux so just about every bottle he was taking had a 3tsp of rice cereal. The doctor informed the other day to take the cereal out of the bottle and feed it to him by spoon. State out once a day a couple tablespoons then increase to twice a day. Long story short when I took the cereal out of the bottle my son was only drinking 2.5-4oz of the bottle almost like he didn't like it. I finally decided to add cereal to it and when I did he finished 6oz. Today I went back to putting the same amount of cereal in the bottle and he still will not finish a 7oz bottle he is eating between 3.5-4oz each bottle. Its now 5:20pm and since 3:30am he has only ate 18oz. and took only half a jar of applesauce.
When I did start the solids at first and took the cereal out of the bottle I was feeding him his bottle then giving im one tablespoon of oatmeal with 1 oz or a tiny more of formula in the bowl. and half a jar of vege or fruit.
I don't know what to do I feel I don't know what the right thing to do with solids is, so im looking for some help and examples from other moms... Please help!
