Hi, I'm a first time mommy and recently my 4 month old daughter has been started to scream out of fear when we others want to hold her, this includes familiar faces like grandparents. She is only comfortable with mommy or daddy. Is this a phase? Also any recommendations to help her feel more comfortable with others?

This is very normal. Although it is a bit early, stranger anxiety can start as early as 4 months, usually gets worse between 6-12 months and then gets much better. To help her be more willing to go to significant people like grandma and grandpa, try having that person sit next to you with a toy or blanket that is familiar to the baby. Then have them engage in play with her and after a few minutes she will probably go to them more willingly. As she gets older, a new or different toy make catch her interest and she'll go to the stranger out of desire to explore. Slow transitions from you to other people will help. So if you have a sitter, or are having grandma come watch her, give some extra time to help her relax around the new person.

Thank you Sarah, this advice helps a lot. When she was a newborn it wa so easy to just pass her around with no probalem but I think because she is now much more alert it isn't that way anymore. I need to give her time to adjust before handing her off to anyone like grandparents :)
