Is it okay to give my 4 month old baby food and cereal???

If you look up both the World Health Organisation and the AAP recommendations, it is 6 months. To be honest, even then it is only for practice. Until they are one, most of their nutrition should come from breastmilk or formula.

Personally I don't understand this practice of wanting our babies to grow up so quickly :)

Okay well thank you! I was asking because I'm in this group. (November and December 2013 moms to be). And there are moms in there that are giving their babies baby food at 4 and 5 months.

No, you should wait until 6 months. Babies under 6 months need all of their nutrition from breastmilk or formula.
