4 year olds still asking for the bottle

My twins only ask for their bottle in the morning because they love to drink their tea while cuddling with me on my bed listening to a story. They are almost 4 and a half, so I don't give it to them, is it ok if I gave them their bottle back? They don't drink as much tea from a cup, and we all miss that morning routine, or will it affect their teeth and speech? Thanks!

Here in the US it is strange to give your child tea, because of the sugar and/or caffeine content. If it is a weak, decaffeinated tea then it is probably okay, as the child will still be hydrated by the water. Sometimes it's hard to get kids to drink plain water.

If you have taken away their bottles, then I would say don't give them back. Get some spill-proof sippy cups so they can lay with you and still drink their beverage.

They are 4... No, you shouldn't be giving them a bottle. That's ridiculous. If you DO give a bottle... only put water in it. No one needs tea. Technically at 4 years old the only liquid they NEED is water cuz all other nutrients can be gotten from food (unless they have a medical condition and the doctor/nutritionist says otherwise).

I wonder if you could describe what your morning tea is? I may have made the wrong assumption that this is a cultural normality for your family.

This is such a touchy subject for so many moms. Their teeth and speech, if already healthy, will not be affected by one bottle a day. My little girl, at 5 would drink a whole 8 oz bottle of warm milk in the car on the way to school. She was underweight so I was thrilled to get the extra calories in her! Bottom line, it worked for my family and my child. She is ten and does not show any ill effects from the bottles at 5.
If this is something you and your kids enjoy, why stop. It's not like you are laying them down with a bottle of sugary juice at bedtime. Trust yourself, and enjoy this time...because it doesn't last.

That makes no sense to me. Why would you give a child something that you took away to only have to take it away again. YES IT WILL AFFECT THEIR TEETH AND THEIR SPEECH!!!! A 4 yr old should not be drinking much tea to begin with and TEA SHOULD NEVER BE PUT IN A BOTTLE NO MATTER AGE!!!! They are getting older your routine is going to change!!! Accept the change and allow them AND ENCOURAGE them to GROW INSTEAD OF HOLDING THEM BACK!!!
