I am still reciovering and it has been 20 months. I had a 4th degree tear which I ruptured both the in´ner nad outer spincter muscle. I had surgery right after birth and had to go through physical therapy 6 weeks afterwards. Unfortunately the sphincter muscle did not heal as well as hoped and I suffered from incontinence. So after 19 months after the birth I had to have reconstruction surgery of the sphincter muscle. I am currently recovering from this surgery and hoping for the best. I will not see results for 6-12 months.

Not sure what a 4th degree tear is, but my tears following surgery were stitched up. The stitches disolved over 7 to 10 days and the area still felt tender for several weeks following. When I went in for the follow up, the doctor said I had healed up just fine. I remember the area feeling strange for far longer than the healing process.

Hope that helps.
