I share a bed with my 4 year old and 18 month old girls since my 1st daughter was 9 months. We shared a room for the first 2 years and now they sleep in my bed. My husband works night shift. Our bedroom is downstairs and the kids share a room upstairs. They don't sleep in their beds even for nap. I have always laid down with them. They will sleep for about 45 minutes then one will wake up crying and that wakes up the sibling. They will wake up soon after I leave the room. They sense that the body heat has left and wake up. My problem is this: I don't mind that they sleep in the same bed, but what is really driving my crazy is me having to lay down with them in order for them to sleep and them waking each other up. I don't want to lay with them all night and would enjoy some time to myself. Our routine is after pj on we read 3 books then lights off. If a night light is on my younger one decides to venture off the bed. If I leave they cry which makes them throw up. I have a hard time letting them cry it out because they get hysterical. How do I get them to peacefully go to sleep without my sleeping with them?
