My 4yr old is very hard to control. Now he has been in preschool since October of last year. He does not listen to his teachers and is constantly hitting other kids. Now I have taken all of the things he lives to play with,t.v and and treats. I have also done the corner and time out. I am all out of options and would like to know if anyone as any other ideas I could use. Oh I have also put him in a strict no sugar diet

Counting to 10 works great at this age, Shannon.

Good luck!

She wants you to induce more caffiene into his diet? Wow...that's a new one. I know that caffeine works for conditions such as ADHD...has he been diagnosed with that? Otherwise, adding caffeine to his diet could only spell disaster...

Also watch what is in other things he's ingesting. I didn't realize it, but things like Gatorade and sports drinks really up the electrolytes, which cause extreme hyperactivity in kids if they don't need the electrolyte bump...

I would definitely try the 'why are you doing this' approach, and give him tools to use to manage his 'frustration' in a better manner.

I say 'frustration' because, at this point, that may be the root cause...he's frustrated over something that his friends either aren't doing, are doing, aren't doing with him...

Good luck

You and teachers need to work consistently so that consequences for poor behaviour are the same across the board. If your tactics are not working, you need to find out what's triggering his issues. Why does he feel the need to constantly hit others, rather than use his words? Each time he does, he needs to tell you WHY he does it.

Thank you. I do not do power drinks. And she says that she tried it with her grand kids which are diagnosed with autism and ADHD. Which I haven't had him tested yet cause they won't test him till he actually goes to kindergarten. I appreciate your help.

We are trying to work together. But she suggests that I try coffee or green tea with him. We have a morning talk everyday of not hitting and listening to his teachers. I am a single mom of 4 and very busy.
