5 month old only nurses when sleepy

When my daughter was 2 1/2 months old she started to refuse to nurse. I finally was able to get her to latch on when she was sleepy. So I would wake her up from her naps and feed her. She is now 5 months old and now I don't wake her up but I have to nurse her right when she wakes up or she will refuse to eat. I've tried giving her bottles of pumped breastmilk and she will not take them. And her naps have started to be shorter like 30- 40 min. So then I nurse her but I'm not sure if she really needs all those feeds or if she's just still sleepy. Anyone else have a baby like this?

Is she staying hydrated (enough wet diapers) and growing and thriving? If so I'd try not to be too concerned. If all she has is breast milk from nursing she is not likely to starve herself unless she has another issue going on. If she is displaying any other concerning behaviors I'd be bringing her in to the doctor.

You can't nurse her too often, so don't worry about that. My son would sometimes nurse 3 times in the SAME hour. lol
