Ok...so, my DS just turned 5 months old last week and we're having MAJOR sleeping problems!
It all started when he was about 3.5 months old.....before that he would nap (on me only) for 1-2 hrs at a time and sleep pretty well at night. (waking once or twice to breastfeed). Around that time I noticed he would get tired faster, so we started to put him to bed at 7:00.
Once we did that, he started waking a lot more during the night. --but that wasn't so bad.
About 3 weeks ago, he got a cold that woke him up more frequently and ever since it has been downhill.
Trying to put him to bed at night is a total nightmare. I've tried experimenting with different bedtimes with no luck :(
He will usually give is one 2-hr stretch-if we're lucky, and then he wakes every 45 min until he wakes in the morning :(
Then, his naps that used to be decent (although he would only sleep on me) have turned into 30-45 min catnaps, no matter what I do.
I've tried darkening the room, we use white noise...I don't know what's going on!
Poor guy is sooooo overtired and I don't know what to do-I can't seem to catch him up.
Does anyone have any suggestions??
I won't let him CIO, even though that's what my doc says to do.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated as I am extremely frustrated and sleep deprived!!!
