Hi ladies,
I spend my life these days reading up on baby sleep patterns and development but I guess there's nothing like advice from people that have been through the same thing.
My little boy is 5 weeks and 2 days and I'm still trying to figure him out...... I love him endlessly and unconditionally already. I just feel guilty and a bit helpless sometimes as it feels like I don't know what he wants or how to make him happy.
My main concerns are how to keep him entertained when he's awake and how to get him to sleep better after his 4am waking..
When he's awake I can't seem tobe able to put him down without him crying within a few minutes. He won't sit in his bouncer or lie on a play mat or sit in a swing, he just wants to be held and even that only lasts a few minutes.
His night schedule is pretty good but day times are all over the place. I start with bath time at 6pm, we do a warm bath, massage, pjs, breast feed, cuddle while singing a lullaby and when he's asleep i put him in his cot. He'll sleep until 12.30 /1.30 am, wake for a feed and change then go back down quite easily. He'll wake again at 4.30am for a feed and change and this is where our problems start. He doesn't settle easily and might sleep for 30 mins to an hour if we're lucky, and will then be up and down feeding and napping briefly for a few hours. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I'm getting really disheartened.
