I had a lot of spotting while I was pregnant with my daughter and it was a result of a hemorrhage between the placenta and uterus. Make sure they do an ultrasound. But for all the doctors that I'vee seen, with spotting having a vag UT isn't the safest.

I had spotting almost all of my pregnancy... there wasn't anything wrong with the placenta or anything else for that matter... the way the doctor put it was "some women just have a sensitive cervix". She said that something as simple as walking up the stairs could cause me to spot... I kept going in to get checked out just to be on the safe side but in all of my 41 and a half weeks nothing was ever wrong that would cause spotting. Good Luck!

i had spotting between 6 and 9 weeks...usually it was a light pink but a few times it got bright red. dr told me it was very normal (and yes i was scared out of my mind because i had a miscarriage before). i just took it easy and didn't do much until my first ultrasound (which they gave me at 9 weeks to be sure of due date). i know it's easier said then done, but relax and try not to stress too much because that never helps. good luck!

I had spotting with my daughter at 5 weeks just pink tinge to discharge but every time I went for a wee. Also again at 12 weeks but brown blood. At 5 weeks this can be implantation bleeding so don't worry to much. The midwife told me that as long as the blood is not deep red or is not enough to fill a sanatary towel then there is nothing to worry about. Brown and pink blood is normal and is just a reaction to hormone levels. Try and get a scan booked at 6 weeks you should be able to see a heart beat. Fingers crossed I am afraid all you can do now is sit it out until the ultra sound.

I had quite alot of spotting with my first at around 5 weeks and 9 weeks and again with my fourth child at 5 weeks, with both of them it was placenta troubles. With No1 the placenta was just low but with No4 I was placenta previa, with the placenta blocking the exit! I agree with Jesica, get an scan and try to keep calm, not easy but stressing doesn't help.

Also, have them check you pregnancy HCG levels, then again in a week. That will give them a better idea that your baby is OK at your stage of pregnancy.
