Hi My name is Martha. My 5 year old started kindergarten in august 24th 2016 at a charter school and turned 5 on august 30th. And he only attended a year in Head Start half a day, and every since he started kindergarten 2 weeks later I started getting complains of my sons behavior in school and how its affecting his learning. And since then I've been attending his school from morning till 2 pm and when am not there he supposedly has a bad behavior that is unsafe and now they are trying to get my son reevaluated because supposedly his IEP ( individual education program) describes a child that isn't my son, he only got the IEP for speech delay because he never attended preschool or pre-k. So now they are putting my son into a PHP( which is a partial hospitalization program) with a psychiatrist to find out if he has ADHD or ADD. See I 9 year old son with Mild Autism. And I am at a lost of what to do if change my son schools to public school because he tells me he hates school, he wants to go home, he wants to go to a school where theirs nice teachers, and the behavior the teachers tell me he never does them at home they make it seem like if his terrible like if they were scared of him. before my child enter the charter school he was very a socialized child, now his not, and it doesn't desire him to learn his more of a hands on child. I really need advice!!!

Did he exhibit these behaviors in Head Start last year? If he did not and you do not see the behaviors at home (or when you are present at his school) that they are complaining about I would strongly consider switching schools. It may also be worth speaking to his doctor and a counselor about the claims the school is making. You don't want to be in denial if there are issues there needing to be addressed, but you also want to be careful about his potentially getting misdiagnosed. ADHD would not be just displayed at school. It would be a pattern of behaviors that you would be witnessed to as well.

I don't know what this partial hospitalization program is, but if it included him being inpatient away from you I would flat out refuse w/out 2nd and 3rd opinions from actual medical and psychological professionals.
