Hi
My husband had been diagnosed with add. He says he's always had it and it was not diagnosed as a child. He is determined our 5 year old son has it. I am more than willing to see a specialist. I think most of my sons behavior is normal for a cautious, smart, introverted kid. He doesn't do well with transitions, is a perfectionist, and doesn't do well in new situations. Anyway my basic question is, even if he is diagnosed with add my husband wants to medicate him. I think 5 years old is way too young to introduce medication to a 5 year old brain. And I am not one who is opposed to meds. I have taken Zoloft for 15 years. I would love some input.
Thanks

I don't agree with medicating that young either, only in extreme cases.

I don't think really anything you described about your son screams add. Especially the perfectionist part. I would just go to the doctor for an evaluation, and have your husband present so he can hear it all for himself.
