I took my daughter off of Vyvanse because of dramatic weight lose from September to February she went from 75 lbs to 63.4 lbs. Not to mention she developed OCD tendencies such as picking her fingers, fingers in her mouth, fingers in her ears, 15 minutes to tie her shoes, excessive sniffling also known as tics. Be observant and careful. It helped her in school concentrate definitely but caused a lot of other issues.

We went through 3different meds. An that's the one that he said he would recommen for William. Fri was the first day he took it an the aid said he did his work all by himself an wasn't yelling at in class. An didn't need a adult w him. An I was very happy an now this picking started. An could cry. I just want him to do good in school an like fe. An not always have a adult w. That is very big prob w him also.

It is unusual for a kid so young to be on vyvanse, why did the doctor choose it?

What other meds has he been on? Sound like this might not be the right med for him.

As a school nurse I see kids on Vyvanse, and at the SN camp I work at as well. Yes, it does seem to "worsen" compulsive picking quite a bit, especially in kids that are already "fussers". Like if they bite their nails, or tug their hair the vyvanse makes it worse. I have not seen any type of behavioral therapy negate the picking, usually the kids get put on another med to limit the compulsion. Sad situation. It does not seem to get better with time either.
