I've noticed many posts on 4-6 week old babies they are sleeping 4-5 hours at night. Fort those moms that this applies to, are your babies formula-fed or breast-fed? I ask because my son is 6 weeks 1 day, I nurse him, and he wakes up every 2 hours to feed. Lately he is getting closer to 3 hours, but it is closer to 2-2.5 hours. When I see these posts of 4-5 hours it makes me wonder: what am I doing wrong? How can I get my son to sleep longer? He always nurses for 5 minutes and TOTALLY knocks out to sleep. I then change his diaper to wake him up, and he nurses another 5-7 minutes. On average he nurses about 10 minutes per feeding. Sometimes if he is really hungry he can do up to 15 minutes, but that is rarely. Any suggestions on how to get him to sleep longer?

That's pretty normal for a breastfed baby. I would try keeping him awake a bit longer while feeding though. Tickle his feet when you notice him falling asleep and try to get him to feed for a good 15 or even a bit longer.

They don't have a lot of room in their bellies at this age so do need to feed more often. Usually if babies go 4 hours, they are formula fed.
