My Son is 6 years old he has recently be diagnosed with ADHD his attention span never has been very good and he seemed to go a mile a minute. He's on meds and that has helped with his ADHD a lot. I also have a 5 year old girl and a 4 year old boy this is where my comparisons will come into play in the rest of the explanation of why i think there might be something more wrong than just ADHD.
He lies about everything! You could watch him do something and he will stand there look your straight in the face and lie to you and tell you that you didn't do it.
He gets up to use the bathroom at night, however he takes cups from the kitchen up to his room and pee's in them! The most recent was when he decided to spill the cup over 2 loads of his clean laundry that he didn't put away. When asked as to why he wasn't going to the bathroom he then lied and said that the door to mine and my husbands bedroom was locked at night and he couldn't. Our bedroom door is never locked at night. The other things he can't seem to wrap his head around (no matter how many times he's told or how many times you explain it to him) are as follows, He doesn't wipe his butt, he doesn't care where he's peeing when he pee's in the bathroom (next to the toilet, all over the seat etc..), He can't fold a wash cloth or a towel, He can't manage to stack his own shoes in order on the shoe rack, He doesn't understand what clean up means example toys, you tell him to clean up he picks up one toy puts it away and then goes off to doing what he wants to do and keeps telling you he forgot. I have to follow him around and keep reminding him what he needs to be doing. My 5 & 4 year old are able to accomplish all these tasks i just can't wrap my finger around what is going on. Some say it's a cry for attention, so we try spending time with him one on one either me or my husband for the day, the day after that happens he goes back to hitting my other children and back to worse than before, with being as i call it lazy and not really caring about anything he does. What the heck is really going on? Is there some other type of disorder he may have?

Hi Tiffany ,

I'm so sorry you're having a hard time :( If you have the means, you may want to consult with a behavioral therapist. You can search for a Board Certified Behavioral Therapist in your area. All behavior serves the purpose of one or more of the following: to gain attention, to gain an object/activity, to escape/avoid something undesirable, or to provide sensory stimulation. A behavioral therapist will collect information from you, along with data, he/she can tell you what function(s) the behavior is serving. Then an intervention plan will be developed to help with the behaviors.

You can search for a local BCBA here:

If his ADHD qualifies him for state services, you may be able to have the therapy covered that way.

I hope you find someone that can help you!! Good luck :)
