6week old won't sleep

My daughter is 6 weeks. She barely sleeps at night. Still has days and nights mixed up. When I can finally get her to sleep at night which takes forever she just cries when I lay her down. she wakes up every 2 hours which I know is normal. But then it takes me 1 1/2hrs to get her back to sleep then she is up 1/2hr later to eat. Needless to say she isn't getting enough sleep and neither am I. I keep the lights and sound low at night. I'm starting to lose it I just want to help her sleep.

I really feel for you. My baby is now 4 months and didn't sleep either pretty much for 12 weeks. Didn't sleep day or night and I was told he will get tired eventually but he never did. I was told to try and get in to a routine but that was never going to happen. Let your little one sleep I did when he finally did I didn't wake for feeds its hard enough to get them to sleep. I believe some babies have a mind of there own. It will get better and easier for you I know you won't believe it at the moment but its true. You need some sleep though to get you through. Even of you can get someone to come over and look after your LO while you sleep. Goodluck.

I hate to tell you this, but it is all normal.. I know you are tired. The first 3 months are really challenging. But here is a start. Wake her up early. Even if she just fell asleep at 4 am wake her around 7-8 every day. Then put her down for her nap a couple of hours later. Don't let her sleep ridiculously long stretches at a time. Get her into a routine. Sleep when she sleeps. Set an alarm if you need to so you don't over sleep. You have to put a huge effort into fixing the day and night mix up. It takes time. Bed time, try to put her down around 8-9. The later you put her down, the better....at least for me it was. By around 3 months, it is much easier to get nap times scheduled. You can do this momma. The key is to sleep when she does.
