My 7 month old son has had reflux since birth. He has been on Zantac and drinks similar advance thickened with oatmeal (1tsp) per ounce. In the past month he was switched to Prevacid compound. The first week he was on it he started getting better, taking 4-6 ounces. He has always been a small eater, but recently he has been drinking only 1-2 ounces per bottle and sometimes refusing altogether by pushing it away. Most days he takes 10-15 ounces and some of that I have to mix into cereal. My drs don't take anything seriously because he has been gaining weight, but since his eating is lacking, I am positive his growth will slow. He is showing serious reflux symptoms all day, but he doesn't spit up. Just today after a desperate call to the GI dr he has double his dose of Prevacid to 3ml twice a day and wants him to switch to elecare formula. I tried it tonight and he wouldn't drink it so I mixed it with oatmeal and spoonfed it. After talking to a feeding therapist she said to mix it with the old formula and gradually increase it. It smells horrible! Anyone have any experience with transitioning? Did anyone's baby develop a bottle aversion from reflux pain and get over it and take a bottle again? This has been such a hard 7 months. I just want to make things right for him. Thanks!!
