7 year old socialization challenges

Hi moms!

We are Indonesian, we live in Jakarta. Our son just turned 7 years old this week. I am noticing new challenges especially in his socialization where he is now learning to fit in to his group of friends. They are at the stage of exploring words such as sexy, stupid, autis (Autistic). I could see that they do not know what it means the way we adults understand them. My point of discussion here is how do we parents empower our children of this age to have their own stand and to be able to know what to follow and what to avoid. Is it too much of a goal to set?

At every stage of your child's life, you should be prepared to handle the 'appropriate vs. inappropriate' conversation. It will occur, and frequently.

The only way your kids know how to tell the difference, and take a stand on it, is if you educate them.

Now, this doesn't mean that the kids won't still say or do something inappropriate whilst with their peer group, but it does mean that the chances of them doing so are less.
