Hello I was wondering if anyone else out there had a similar experience. My son is 8 months old and five days. He babbles somedays more than others. Like today all he did was cream and say ahhhh. No "b" "mm" sounds and no dada mama yet. It worries me because everything I read says they should be saying lots of that by this age and the cut off is pretty much 9 months. He makes good eye contact when he wants to and show affection when he wants to. He lets you know when he wants to be picked up which is a lot of the time lol. What is weird to me is he pushes his thumbs into everything. He even sometimes balances his toys between his thumbs. He responds to his name most of the time. Usually by the first or second call and if he's busy playing he will go back to playing then ignore you calling his name. He does not follow to what you're point at, just looks at your figure. He is also intrigued by anything that moves. Like the trees blowing in the wind, light on the wall coming in from the window. He keeps wanting to look at the light on the walls when the sun starts to set. Especially if there is a shadow of the tree and the light "moves" he also is very interested in people and little kids. He goes to a day care and loves it and loves watching the kids play and he gets excited as if he wants to run around and play. He is not crawling yet and about a month ago learned to roll over both wYs. He does get up on his knees and rock back and forth so I assuming he is getting ready to crawl
I guess my worry is autism and has been since I got pregnant.. Someone had brought that subject up when I was pregnant and I have been worried ever since :(

Thank you! Mrs vansy,
I just worry about all these mile stones they are supposed to accomplish by a certain time. I'm sure he will get there. I think I'm just being a crazy mama. I don't mean any disrespect to mothers who have children with autism or any type of disability. I know it must be really hard. I know boys are more likely than girls to have it also.. I would be upset if he did have it but if he does I just want to know as early as possible. I hear the earlier the diagnosis the better. But who knows, researchers don't know much about autism.

Hi Kristine,
I don't think it's autism because it sounds like he's responding well to things happening around him. From what i learned, baby girls talk earlier than baby boys. I have a friend who's got an 10 months old boy and I haven't heard him talk. He makes noises and very observant so maybe that's normal for little boys. I have a baby girl and when she's 10months, she was already saying 'ba' and 'mama'. They all have their own stage where you'll just be surprised on what they can do.

Don't worry too much, he'll get there =)
God bless you and your little one.
