8 month old frees my breast to eat

I have a very healthy 22 pound 8 month old girl. She is breastfed and taking solids up to 3 times a day now. Trouble is now when she gets hungry she will pull my shirt down and eat. I find this inappropriate? Is it possible to teach her how to sign that she is hungry? I dont want to be one of those moms with a baby or toddler that snatches their shirt down in public.

Yes. It's perfectly acceptable to NOT let her help herself. Maybe teach her to pat your chest when she wants to nurse. If she pulls down your shirt try setting her down for a minute and then picking her up and showing her how to 'ask'. It really helps things until they are verbal and can ask with their words. Don't expect her to catch on right away, but be consistent and she'll learn. ♥
