My 8 month old son has not been wanting to drink any formula! He is eating a lot of solids just fine though! I know that formula intake decreases as they get older and eat more solids, but today it seemed like he had maybe 6-8 ounces ALL DAY! However he had plenty of solids! Anybody else experiencing this, and what do you think about it??

my little girl is now one and since she was 6 months old has only had one bottle a day cause she wont drink milk but she is still fine and healthy as long as they eat plenty of fruits and veg they should be fine with out the milk just keep up with other fluids

My 3rd child gave up the bottle at 9 months also. I started using a sippy cup for fluids and he was fine. He did not like formula but with all the foods he was eating, it was not a problem and he is a 6 foot 16 year old.

I was nursing my boy until he was 9mo and he was not interested in formula at all. So between letting him have a sippy cup at meal time (it was new and exciting) and putting a little apple juice in with his formula for a week he really took to it. Now he is doing great and we took the apple jucie out of the equation for bottle time an he still gets excited to see a bottle.

My son did the same at 9 months and refused anymore formula after that! My ped. says as long as he was healthy and getting his dairy in through other sources, it was fine! Remember they do need the calcium for their bones, as long as your child is getting their calcium in other forms, I am sure it doesn't matter......

My daughter did the same thing and ended up she was lactose intolerant. I think she knew then that it made her feel bad. She is 32 and still doesn't drink milk but takes in lots of calcium in other forms.

Kelli while he is refusing his milk now would be a good time to transition to cup only with out the tears often associated with bottle weining. My doctor told me with my youngest that the more he ate solids the less milk he would take and I think we were at about 8-12 ounce around the one year mark.

THANKS EVERYONE! I figured it was okay as long as he was still eating food. Just wanted to check and see if anyone else was going through the same thing!

I switch all of my kids from formula to milk at 10 months. If he's not wanting it, maybe he's telling you he's ready. All babies are different. If your worried hes not getting the vitamins & nutrition, get the enfamil baby drops and put it in his milk.

It is normal.. My duaghter will have days where she drinks alot and others where she will just eat until she is full.. I do not worry about it unless they start refussing a bottle or sippy cup all together.. I know i just offer my daughter a bottle if she will not take it then i offer her food.... If she won't take either then i know she is ok.. They will lat you know... Hope this is a little helpful, Take care and Best wishes...

That's fine I don't think that's a problem. my baby did the same thing when she was that age only she was getting only 4oz a day. I freaked out and talked to the Dr. and he said that as long as the baby is healthy and her iron level is ok you can't do much. So if the iron levels are ok then i would say that your ok. Plus if your really concerned i would talk to his Dr.
