My son was born premature at 29 weeks. His actual age now is 8 and a half months old, but his corrected age is 6 months. He is perfectly healthy and overall is an incredibly smiley, happy baby! But for the last few weeks he has been having sleep problems. He will wake up a lot in the night- sometimes every half an hour. It's so draining for me :( I breast feed so I offer the breast but most of the time he isn't hungry. He just seems uncomfortable and just wants to be rocked or bounced to sleep. We got into a bad habit of rocking/bouncing him to sleep because when he was younger he had very bad colic and that was the only thing that worked. I've tried giving him a bottle of formula in the evening, adding rice cereal to the bottle, giving him a warm bath before bed, letting him cry it out a bit but not for long as he screams too loud it will wake up the rest of my family... Tried teething remedies incase he's teething.. Nothing seems to work.

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions?
I'd love some help please x

Thank you for your response!

I think you are right, I think it's his teeth. I have read a few other posts where other mums have said their babies were the same when they were teething.
I have started to give my son the homeopathic remedy 'camomillia' (think that's the name!) and it seems to be really helping. He is waking a few times to eat but not being fussy and crying like before.

My first guess would be that it is his teeth. Will he take a soother? He may also be going through a growth spurt, though that would usually cause him to look for food when he wakes. How is he sleeping through the day? Sometimes, for whatever reason, babies will get things backwards and sleep for 6 hours plus through the day and then wake through the night ready to play. If that is the case, it is a hard one to remedy because you have to try to keep the baby awake through the day or wake him up after short periods of time so that he will turn his schedule back around. Another option might be a cold? If he has a runny nose that could make it difficult for him to sleep. Babies sleep patterns change frequently, don't stress too much, it should resolve itself relatively quickly. If you feel like you have tried everything and nothing is working and you are at your wits end, visit your doctor, they should be able to come up with some more ideas that you may not have thought of, or there may be something wrong that you can't see - like kidney stones (my 4 month old has potential kidney stones). Best of luck! Hope you figure it out and get back to sleeping
