my baby boy is 8 weeks. he is sleeping great at night, but fights sleep some kind of terrible during the day. he will fall asleep after nursing, but if I put him down he wakes up....or he will wake up within ten mins of me laying him down. he also sleeps well in his swing. I can't always hold him and I don't want to rely on the swing. his dr said that I should just lay him down in his crib and let him cry BC eventually he will stop crying.....but he doesnt. the longest I've let him cry is ten mins....he just gets soooo ridiculously upset..I'm not gonna let him do that...when I finally calm him down, he is pitiful. now if you have some advice for transitioning him to napping better, then feel free to comment. but if youre gonna talk about him being spoiled or whatever, don't bother. thanks :)

thank you very much!! I'm only afraid that when ever the day comes that I have to let him stay with someone else, me.goin back to back to work for example, that he will get too upset because I'm not there ya know?

I would NOT listen to that doctor... and would seriously consider switching doctors if my ped ever said something like that about a child of that age. CIO at 2 months is just flat out cruel.

Your baby is only 2 months old... there is nothing wrong with holding him for his naps if you are able... especially since you say he sleeps well at night. There is also nothing wrong with relying on the swing for his naps as eventually he will outgrow the swing.

I have many, many pictures of a baby napping in a swing or a bouncy seat. My girls napped more in those than in the crib for at least 6 months. My son slept more on me than anywhere else. I've got three kids with no sleep issues whatsoever now.

They are only little for so long. My best advice is to do what feels right and seems to work best for YOUR baby, YOUR family, and YOUR situation. :)
