I don't think that's a big deal. It's only 2 year age difference, not 5 or 6. Letting her meet him at the theatre and getting picked up from it is a good idea for sure. If he seems like a responsible kid than I don't see why not.
It's not like they're hanging out late at night or something, they're going to a movie. If your granddaughter seems fairly trustworthy than I don't think it's a major issue.

If there were a group of friends and/or an adult present... I would consider it, but one on one dating (as of now) is not going to happen in my house until 16. Though with you dropping off and picking up (and coming a bit early for pick up) I guess it would be ok. I'm not so sure here.... my oldest is 11 and I am NOT ready for the world of boys and dating!! ;)
