A better world

I'm on a crusade to make the world a little better one good deed at a time. Will you join me?

In girl scouts we were supposed to do at least one good deed a day. I took it to heart and always looked for a way to give to someone else. I made it my goal every day to do something for someone else that would bring a little light into their lives or ease their burden a little. I let the habit lapse but after a post from Nichole about lack of compassion these days I have decided to once again start doing at least one good deed a day.

I ask you to join in my crusade of spreading light and compassion. Will you take up the challenge to do one good deed a day.. I found it very fulfilling, I think you will to.

It doesn't have to be a major deed. Sometimes it can be as simple as picking up something that someone else dropped, giving a stranger a compliment or giving words of encouragement or compassion. Some other good deeds you could do. Let someone out into traffic. Let someone in line in front of you. Do volunteer work. Help someone carry groceries to their car. Call up that lonely neighbor or relative. Send a letter of appreciation to a child's teacher. I found a certain level of enjoyment in just looking for ways to help. It is important though to realize that not all good deeds will be recognized or appreciated, but hopefully you will have planted a seed within them.

Any one willing to join me and make a goal of one good deed a day or even one good deed a week? Have you done any good deeds today?

I actually did do a good deed today I just wrote the cards out for my son's pre-school teachers letting them know how much my husband and I appreciate everything they did throughout the year and how my son is going to miss them next year in kindergarten.
I know that my husband and I have done our best to raise our children and will continue to do our best. Friday night I watched my 5 year old old give up 3 different balloons to 3 different friends at a birthday party because his friends balloons had popped. In the end no one had any left to give him but he was ok with that becuase he had made his friends happy and prevented the tears from being shed. If we always act as if our little ones our watching us it will go a long way to making the world a better place!
