In Target today my daughter starts telling me she has "a pimple in my mouth", I look and she's right! Well, almost. I see a small blood blister on the top of her gum at the bottom. All around it I can see a tooth coming in. On the other side I'm starting to see the white of a tooth but no blister. Did anyone else's kids have a blister like this come up when their molars come in? Also, my daughter just turned 5... Isn't it a bit early for her to be getting these? Everything I've found says first grade is when they come in. She hasn't even started Kindergarten!!!

Every thing is fine!  Im a dental hygienist and the "blister "you are seeing is called an eruption hematoma. It should go away soon scince the tooth has allready broken through the gum tissue.  "6" year old molars can come in any time between 4-7 years...Its just a base line age, shes just a bit early.  These molars have 4 cusps so you will see 4 little peaks poking through, the middle emerging last.  the only time to worry is if there is a white bump on the gum, especialy when in close proximity of an erupted tooth.  This could be an infection caused by decay  or trauma to  the tooth.  This will look just like a pimple and can be drained with pressure..thats when you want to see a dentist right away. I hopw this eases your mind!

Thanks Ladies~  The blister went away today.  Poor kid though, these teeth are popping through and they look huge coming in her little mouth!

It will not pop..it will just dissolve, the trapped blood will dissapate from under the gum..kinda like a bruise ( hematoma).  It doesnt need to be popped .. it will prob be painful if you mess with it.

Its awful when they get teeth. Good luck

I work at a dental office and it sounds like she just has her molars coming in. Some kids get them sooner than others. But it sounds like she is at the age where she can go for her first dental visit!

Thanks for all of the info... Now my question is.. will this blister pop or just go away?  And if it pops... yuck!  :)

I don't know if it's the same or not, but when my daughter's first molar started coming through it took forever for it to break the skin and for about a month there was a whiteish blister looking thing on the surface of the gum. I was so worried about it and the doctor tried telling us it could be cyst growing, but the more I searched online and read about it I found that it was just the skin being pushed up and becoming enlarged and irritated by the tooth underneath it. Eventually the tooth broke through and it went away. Hope that eases your mind a bit and hopefully your daughter's not suffering too much!

Every child is different... did your daughter get her first teeth early? like at 4-6 months? My daughter didn't get a single tooth til she was 13 months old, and then they all came in, and none of them are even slightly loose, I don't expect they will be since she got hers so late, maybe if your daughters teeth came in early then that's why these are coming in?
