So I am 38 weeks and 5 days today and last night at 9:25 I ingested 2 tablespoons of castor oil right away I started feeling tightness in my stomach just a couple hours later I started getting pretty hard contractions that we're not far apart at all but it was tightening in my stomach it wasn't really painful contractions so I thought nothing of it and just tried to sleep but couldn't sleep all night because of the contractions I did not have no diarrhea until 7 the next morning but it was only a couple times I went to the toilet with diarrhea and the contractions lasted about 6 hours now I'm not even cramping should I have went to the hospital while I was cramping or should I wait until I try to feel the actual real contractions? Or was that the real contractions? Or when you take it and when your cramping is there a time frame because it's going to stop so I should go to the hospital or is it not going to stop when you take castor oil if you have real contractions or tighten the stomach? Please someone help me? Also it just feels like the baby is really tight like his in a ball and it's not going away..? Same with since I took it I feel sharp pain sometimes in my stomach...? Is that ok?

In the meantime, have sex (both partners orgasm...the sperm helps soften and dilate the cervix, and your orgasm can start the ball rolling for contractions), lots of walking, lots of water or raspberry leaf tea. Good luck love!

Due dates are a guess. They can be off by 1-2 weeks in either direction. You can certainly have your membrane swept again. Remember, nothing will work unless baby is ready to come out.

Thank you.
But 44 weeks!? That's not good! I was born three weeks late and I was in distressed and they had to bring you back 3 times I almost died.
But yes he dose not want to come lol. Yesterday was his due date and he still not here I'm scheduled for an induction a week after his due date so next Wednesday. Come on baby!! Lol
He already weighs over 8 pounds. :/

Venessa, your body is not ready nor is this baby ready to be born. BE PATIENT. You're going to need patience as a parent anyway, the best time to learn is right now. Once baby is ready, you'll go into labor.
Considering I went to 44 weeks with my first, and 42 with my second...You will survive until you actually go into labor naturally.

I ended up doing a membrane sweep last Wednesday and it did nothing. My due date is in 2 days, on Wednesday and if I don't have him their going to have to induce me a week after my due date. I hope he comes before then and because I really don't want to be induced. I herd it hurts or is painful..

Glad to hear you and baby are fine. If you want to try something new, the next time you are at the doctor, ask her to sweep your membrane. It is quick, and if your body and baby are ready, it may help labor to start. But, remember, anything you do.....if your body and baby are not ready for labor, it won't work.

Thank you all, I really appreciate it. I just got back from the hospital and they said everything was fine, that baby looks and sound good and healthy. I will not try Castor Oil again. It did absolutely nothing, not even dilate me anymore than what I already was. I guess he'll just come on his own. I was scared there for awhile because he wasn't moving for the longest time and my stomach was staying hard and not going away. Hopefully he come soon, hopefully before he's due date witch is in a week and two days, July 15.

Labor doesn't stop because you aren't at the hospital so you weren't in labor.
The other ladies have told you all the dangers of castor oil.
You only have a couple of weeks to go (if that), your baby will come when it's ready.

Nothing you left out has changed what I have to say. You should have researched the potential dangers of your planned induction before you did it. As everyone has advised, if you are concerned and something doesn't feel right, get it checked out.

Real labor doesn't stop no matter where you are.... Just be patient and quit trying to induce... but given your stomach pains and how your baby is acting I would head to the hospital and make sure you haven't damaged your baby....

Theres a couple things I left out..
So I am 38 weeks and 5 days today. A couple days ago I was going on to 3 centimeters and my cervix is soft and the babies head down. I asked my doctor if it was okay if I try to induce my labor naturally and she said yes that the baby looks healthy and ready to go so I've tried reflexology, walking, raspberry leaf tea, pineapple, sex, lavender oil, warm baths, nipple stimulation... Nothing is working and so last night at 9:25 I ingested 2 tablespoons of castor oil with orange juice right away I started feeling tightness in my stomach just a couple hours later I started getting pretty hard contractions that we're not far apart at all but it was tightening in my stomach it wasn't really painful contractions so I thought nothing of it and just tried to sleep but couldn't sleep all night because of the contractions I did not have no diarrhea until 7 the next morning but it was only a couple times I went to the toilet with diarrhea and the contractions lasted about 6 hours now I'm not even cramping should I have went to the hospital while I was cramping or should I wait until I try to feel the actual real contractions? Castor oil doesn't put you into labor... It just makes you sick and has the potential to make your baby sick as well. Stop it. Just let your baby come when BABY is ready.

Vanessa, I totally understand how much you want to give birth, but your baby is not ready. You are not 40 wks. For every day your baby is inside of you, the more developed his/her lungs are, brain, nervous system, and muscles become. Castor oilis not healthy for you or baby. What happens is you have massive diarrhea. Diarrhea is very dehydrating to your body, throws off your eloctrolytes, causes contractions....but not for the right reason. Not because your body is ready to give birth. It is because you are forcing yourself into labor, and that is dangerous.

Please, if you feel like you need to, see your doctor. Castor oil is not the answer to speed up labor. If your body is not ready, and your baby is not ready, you have to wait.

What castor oil is doing is screwing with your digestive system which is probably what the cramping was. Seriously, I wish people would stop recommending that stuff to bring on labour, because what it does to your baby is that it can cause distress. Sure, it may bring on labour because of the stomach cramps, but it honestly isn't doing the baby any good.

If you are concerned, you should see your doctor or go to the emergency room. It might be labour, it might not be, but you should at least check your baby is not in any distress..
