I have had Implanon for a little over a year, but because of the side effects (bleeding for 6 weeks)I want it taken out. I spoke with my husband and he is willing to do Natural Family planning which I have been practicing the past week or so. I chart using fertility friend. The problem is we have had unprotected sex the past few days and I found some information that would suggest we needed to abstain from sex for a week before removal. I cannot cancel my appointment now and I really do want the implant out. (Today is the only day I can do it)So what do you think? I understand sperm can live in the body for 3-4 days and 7 at the most. I also posted this at scarleteen last night with no responses, so I figured someone on here may know.

Thanks ladies! I asked the doctor who said the hormones can stay in your body up to 2 months.

I think the chances of pregnancy are very slight. You should be fine. As Tyla suggests the implant contains lots of hormones that could stay in your body for up to a year after having it removed.
