Accupuncture for Breech Baby

Amanda - posted on 11/24/2010 ( 6 moms have responded )

Hi all! We are at 36 weeks now and our little guy is still breech. I have heard that accupuncture is one way that can help to turn the baby. I ask about accupuncture because I have attempted the at-home remedies and they have not helped (and inversion is my doctors last choice).
Any other ideas are greatly appreciated as well :)
Thank you,

I did the lying on my back on an ironing board which was propped on the couch, so that my feet were higher than my head. I did this about 10 mins every evening for 3 or 4 days before baby got tired of the pressure from my diaphragm on her head , and tucked her head under & somersaulted (or supposedely that's why they do it). Presto - properly positioned baby - natural birth.

So.. if you haven't tried it, I highly recommend this technique.

Diana way works well!! Also while doing Dianas way, put headphones near your bottom, and play music, do not speak! Its believed by some doctors that breeched babies love the sounds of moms voice, its why they dont wanna flip. I dont see why pay someone to flip your baby, if you can do it for free at home.

And dont panic you got 4 more weeks for baby to flip, which is plenty of time.

I managed to get 1 of my breech babies to turn by hanging upside down, I spent alot of time upside down for a few days and it worked, I was 37 weeks. The other nothing worked with. Good luck

I don't know anything about using accupuncture for this--the only suggestion I have is to call an accupuncturist and ask! I used accupuncture for other health issues and swear by it so I hope it works for you. Good luck!

Mia: I have tried putting music and lights at the bottom of my uterus, the "cat" yoga position, and I will be trying the ironing board tonight (lying upside down on an inclined board to force the baby to flip).

accupuncture worked for me with both! granted i combined it (every other day) with getting in a pool's deep in and diving to the bottom of the pool and back up and swimming some laps and doing it again. Both of my babies were breech at 36 1/2 weeks, one at 37 1/2 weeks and both turned in time for home births :-). I received regular chiropractic care all the way to full term with my babies and then planned to start accupuncture at full term anyways. I receive regular accupuncture outside of pregnancy anyways. What home remedies have you tried?
