Drinking water is recommended for anyone, not just someone with ADHD. I recommend speaking with your doctor to devise a diet that may help with your child's condition. Sugars, caffeine, or other stimulants can work differently with different people. For those with ADHD, ADD, or other disorders, stimulants can either increase their ability to focus, or might make them jittery, anxious, or irritable. Too much caffeine could even cause sleepiness, as it can reduce the blood flow to the brain. Your doctor should be able to work with you and your child to find a diet plan that at minimum won't make symptoms worse, but might actually help reduce symptoms.
